The NCVQ needle is one of the most popular upgrades for the carbureted 2004-2009 Yamaha YFZ450. It doesn't add horsepower by itself, but it improves the fuel curve in the throttle range where you spend most of your time riding.

Here's what it does:

• Richer from about 1/8 to 3/4 throttle because it has a different taper than the stock YFZ needle.
• Smoother throttle response, especially right off idle.
• Eliminates the lean hesitation many stock YFZ450s have after installing an exhaust or opening the airbox.
• Improves mid-range power because the engine gets the fuel it wants sooner as the slide lifts.

When you'll notice the biggest difference

The NCVQ helps the most if your YFZ has:

• Aftermarket exhaust
• Open airbox or lid removed
• High-flow air filter (K&N, Twin Air, Pro Design, etc.)
